Vixens Reach Next Round with Victory Over Tulse Hill

18th January 2022

By Ruth Fraser

Vixens 3 – 1 Tulse Hill and Dulwich O35s

I am writing this match report due to the fact I turned up to support my teammates looking like Katie Price who had escaped from Litchfield Penitentiary.  I was quite happy at home lounging around after the night before celebrations for Chrissies 50th and Sian’s nearly 40 birthday party but decided that I would show my support.

The first half went, well, actually I don’t know as I wasn’t there. But no goals were scored.

The second half started to see some action after I bought my good luck charm down to the club. Surbiton were moving the ball around beautifully stick to stick and got a penalty corner. Fee injected a great ball to Val, who aimed to slap the ball to the inside post. GOAL!  1-0

The goal gave the team the boost they needed, and we saw some skilful play from all the team. A great ball out of defence to Val who drove down the right hand side and into D and smacked it towards the goal. The Dulwich GK nearly fell on the ball but got her stick to it, but the full force saw it trickled off her stick into the goal. GOAL! 2-0

Dulwich decided it was time to put some pressure on our defence. Annie did some magical saves, but one slipped past her, and the score was 2-1.

The supporters were feeling the pressure of the scoreline and the started shouted lots of encouragement. The game was very much back and forth until we saw Surbiton get another penalty corner. Val was on for a hat trick or hat trick avoidance, so the pressure was on either way, but she took it in her stride. Fee again distributed a great ball to Val who hit the ball cleanly into the inside post. GOAL! 3-1

I would like to make a special mention to Lindsey who travelled down from York to play.

A great team effort by Annie, Sinead, Tiff, Ruth Banks, Lindsey, Helen, Charlotte, Jane, Fee, Val, Anne, Jess and Pia.

Our next game is Sunday 23rd against Epsom – bring it on!
