Wendy Beaney Nominated as SHC Patron
By Surbiton HC
The SHC Board is delighted to announce that it has unanimously voted to nominate club legend Wendy Beaney as a Patron of SHC.
Wendy was instrumental in setting up the Ladies and the Colts sections at Surbiton, as well as playing in every single ladies team, mixed teams and a few of the men’s sides! Most recently it was fantastic to see Wendy playing in the 7-aside summer hockey league.
Wendy is more than just a hockey player – she has been a huge inspiration to so many and has helped make the club what it is today. The SHC Board want to recognise Wendy for everything she has done by making her a Patron of Surbiton Hockey Club – this is an honour very rarely given out, in fact we believe this is the first time it will be awarded in 100 years. We can’t think of anyone more deserving of this honour.
This honour will be made official by voting Wendy in at an EGM, which will be held during Play Day on Saturday 4th September.
Thank you Wendy for being you and for everything you have done for SHC.
Plus… Happy 80th Birthday Wendy!
On Saturday 3rd July Wendy also celebrated her 80th birthday (in true Wendy style, on the hockey pitch!) and this month’s SHC Summer Newsletter is the ‘Wendy Beaney edition’ – full of wonderful tributes and stories from friends and team mates, as well as a special match report from Saturday’s celebrations.
