The Eds Redemption Mission
We trekked all the way to SE London to take on Eds, only for El Capitano to be late to her own meet time. A strong start.
After our amazing team talk (albeit wasn’t that good as no pints or cigs involved), walked out with a spring in our step and were ready to redeem ourselves from last year, especially as we knew Eds were going to be a tough side.
The game started, and it was PMAs only. We were playing super well, with Traff somehow managing to fall over quite a lot, while the opposition were handing out A LOT of elbows. Nevertheless, we kept our heads up and continued to play some brilliant hockey.
Just before half time, Rosina secured our first goal, putting us ahead as we headed into the break. We entered the second half absolutely pumped and ready to go.
Everyone put in an amazing shift, and we continued to attack well despite the opposition’s outrageous tackling. Then came the moment of the match: Bing went down fighting (audio representation TBC), which led to a P flick. Sian stepped up, kept her cool and SCORED!!! Cue celebrations.
Things then took a slightly questionable turn when I accidentally gave a completely accidental foot, for which the umpire awarded a short corner. Unbelievable.
Eds managed to score from a shot corner but it was okay because we were not finished yet! We bounced back with another goal after an amazing run from Herbie, putting us firmly back in control.
The final whistle blew, and the scoreboard read 3–1 to Surbiton!
A brilliant team performance, some questionable tackling, several gravity-related incidents, one unfortunate foot, and plenty of PMA later, we had redeemed ourselves.
GO SURBITON!!!
