Sirens 1 - 0 Cheam 3s (A)
By Charlotte Coltman
Scramble at Nonsuch Park
Squadron: Surbiton Sirens
Status: Victory (1-0)
Chocks away! The Surbiton Bluebirds engaged the Cheam interceptors in a jolly spirited dogfight at Nonsuch Park. It was a proper "tally-ho" affair from the opening whistle, though the grass was a bit more "bumpy landing strip" than we’d have liked for our fine craft.
The Manoeuvere: Midfield Navigator Ivett spotted a gap in the enemy flak and delivered a ripping pass right into the mixer. Sarah, flying in the "Ace" position, kept her goggles clear and slotted the ball home with the precision of a Spitfire’s cannons. 1-0 to the good gals!
The Dogfight: * A Solid Fuselage: Our defence was sturdier than a Vickers Wellington, though the Cheam bombers did give our tail-gunners a bit of a fright on a few sorties.
The Scramble: The goal mouth saw more frantic action than the Officer's Mess at happy hour. Plenty of "burbles" in the clouds, but no further hits recorded.
Ground Support: Jo C and Katie provided top-hole morale from the hangars, cheering with enough "maximum boost" to wake the King himself.
Casualties: A bit of a sticky wicket for the opposition - one of their pilots suffered a serious mechanical failure (injury). We wish them a speedy recovery and a stiff upper lip.
Summary: A wizard show by the whole squadron! We’ve landed safely back at the hangar for a well-deserved gin and tonic.
