Women's 4s 7 - 0 Southgate 3s (A)

It was a very sunny Saturday morning when the somewhat depleted squad trekked over to Southgate. After last week's disappointing loss against OCs the 4s were ready for another victory to get their winning streak back on track.

With Herbie’s usual pre match AI graphic to inspire us, the game started well with early goals and minimal pressure from Southgate.

Up front Rosina had a great game with her second hat trick of the season. Captain Bing and Sian created some great opportunities up front making really strong leads. Carole also had a great game… although she may need to use the break weekend for a trip to the opticians given the football goal misses!

In defence, Maddie and Charlotte G had great games creating space to move the ball through the Southgate press to find the midfield and forwards. Emily E also made some incredible saves and kept a clean sheet despite Southgate’s short corner efforts.

With Emily missing in Lanzarote, Captain Bing provided the half time sweets whilst Herbie delivered more three word wisdom before we all headed back out for the second half with a nice 3-0 lead after two goals from Sian and one from Rosina.

The second half began and was pretty consistent with the first half as Scar made some great passes for the forwards to spring onto and India and Caroline wove around the Southgate midfield with ease. Unusually for us, we actually managed to convert a few corners with Lisa Clarke even running in the right direction at the second attempt and scoring. She added another a few minutes later and Rosina got two more to complete her hat trick.

Post game whilst Herbie was washed down the Southgate drains, Maddie, Scar and Carole snuck in two rounds of match teas and I discovered that POM and DOD votes don’t cancel out and I would still have to write a match report.

Overall we had a really strong game and after a 7-0 win we are sat in second with our next match at home against Spencer 3s, which should be a fun one!
