Surbiton Men's 1s opened their Phase 3 matches with a dominant 8-2 win over Holcombe at Sugden Road on Saturday afternoon.

With the start delayed by 30 minutes, it took until the second quarter for the first goal to be scored, and it was for the visitors, with Sam Taylor converting in the 20th minute. However, a ten minute flurry took Surbiton 3-1 up before half time, with Conor Williamson (PC), Gareth Furlong (PC) and Nick Bandurak (FG) scoring the goals.

Nick Nurse added a fourth with a tidy finish at the far post in the 48th minute with Bandurak adding another corner conversion shortly afterwards. Holcombe got one back from an Alex Pendle corner, but a series of late strikes from Will Calnan, Conor Williamson and Max Anderson made it a striking and comfortable win for the Seals.

Cardiff & Met visit Sugden Road on Sunday afternoon and a win could be enough to secure the M1 a place at Finals Weekend in early May.
