Women’s 4s 1 - 3 Spencer 2s (A)

Gameday: 9th November 2024

By Amber Cody

Surbiton Women’s 4s put up a powerful fight but were ultimately defeated 3-1 by Spencer Women’s 2s in a tough match on Saturday.

Spencer came out strong, quickly taking control with two goals early in the game. However, Surbiton refused to back down and showed resilience, with Jen scoring a fantastic goal to pull one back for the team, giving them a glimmer of hope. Despite their best efforts, Spencer found the goal once more, sealing the game with a 3-1 victory.

The Surbiton squad performed admirably against a well-organised Spencer side, maintaining strong pressure throughout the game. The team earned several short corners, which we went out with solid attacking play, showing a determination to stay in the match. Charlotte Stacey was named Player of the Match for her excellent distribution from midfield, consistently getting the ball out to the wings and creating opportunities for her teammates.

Defensively, Sunny and Lexi were outstanding. Their communication, organisation, and motivation kept the team solid at the back, with both players constantly communicating to keep the defence tight and prevent further goals.

Overall, Surbiton 4s displayed great teamwork, spirit, and resilience, and while the result didn’t go our way, we can certainly take pride in our performance against a tough opponent.
