Sirens 4 - 3 Teddington 6s (A)

Super Sirens Come Home Victorious from Teddington
It was a cold 4pm pushback over in Teddington, but 14 hardy Sirens, aided by Sophia (fresh from a netball match!) in goal had a tough match under the floodlights!
After an unconventional warm up involving some stretches on some convenient table tennis tables we turned our attention to the match at hand. Teddington started very strongly, instantly pushing the Sirens back in defence and making us fight for every ball. Slowly we began to take control of the game, leading to a break up the right wing landing the ball in the back of the net, one nil! The game continued in this vein, Teddington were not going to let us have an easy ride, but slowly we continued to gain ground leading to two more goals in the first half and going into half time 3-0 up.
The second half was much colder and felt darker, the Sirens came out of our half time huddle refreshed by Jelly Babies and Captain Tracey's inspiring words.
We were strong in defence but after what felt like a million short corners, Teddington finally found the back of the net, and followed it up quickly with a second goal, making it 3-2 and all to play for. The hardy Sirens continued to fight on and we secured a fourth goal, swiftly followed by a third from Teddington. 4-3 with ten minutes to go, and those were some of the hardest ten minutes of hockey I have ever played! Despite more defensive short corners and a lot of pressure from Teddignton, we held on for victory and three lovely points!
Goalscorers were Monica (2), Jenny B and Jax
POM went to Monica for all that running (and the goals of course)
Buzz Award - we didn't officially vote for this at the end of the game as everyone was keen to get home for Saturday wine time, however I would personally suggest Suz for being sent back twice from short corners for breaking too early OR myself and Nao for crashing into each other and stopping to laugh while the umpire is shouting "play on" behind us and Teddington charge up the pitch with the ball…
