Ospreys Teamwork Keeps Them Top of the Table
By Miten Amin
Ospreys 11 - 0 Wimbledon Thunders (H)
1st Half: 7-0
A blustery morning for both teams to negotiate. SHC push out strong from the outset, Saksena hits the post early doors with a shot across goal. Further to strong early pressure Henkes scores with a powerful shot across the keeper (1-0). Wimbledon keeper saves another quick fire shot from Henkes and offensive SHC players in numbers.
Neat team move down the right flank, Walker and Nendick combing to assist for Saksena to score at point blank (2-0). Dunsire Moore makes it 3-0 further to a Nendick cross after another good spell of pressure. Saksena repays with an assist for Nendick to score after good work down the other flank (left) (4-0). Soon after a Walker strike is saved by the keeper and Henkes nets for 5-0. Henkes follows up for good measure with a powerful deflected strike into the top corner 6-0. Osprey’s win a short and go close with Walker, Saksena tidies up with another goal 7-0 at HT.
2nd Half: 4-0
Ospreys are a player light (given the scoreline trajectory) and this allows Wimbledon some possession in Ospreys' half and finally test our keeper Ribet (who was a lone figure first half) with a double save from the Wimbledon pressure. Authwall scores a great counter attack goal down the left with a deft lift over keeper’s dive 8-0. Another counter attack with Ospreys clinical, Osikoya one on one with Wimbledon keeper 9-0. Wimbledon continue to seek a consolation goal but defence stands strong marshalled by Barwell, Padget and Lam Fuentes. Goal of the match then goes to Nendick as she slices the Wimbledon midfield down the middle with a solo goal 10-0. Lam Fuentes, Amin and Dunsire Moore both go close with shots from edge of the D following late pressure back on Wimbledon. Padget nets as Ospreys are camped in Wimbledon’s half (11-0). Ribet makes another great save to maintain the clean sheet.
