Women's 2s 2 - 0 Sevenoaks 1s (A)

6th November 2023

By Harriet Bisdee

After the half term break, the Women’s 2’s were keen to get back into the swing of things against Sevenoaks. The weather didn’t dampen our spirits or the winning streak!

The first quarter was dominated by Surbiton but with no goals or short corners to show for our efforts, patience was key.

The second quarter demonstrated the same domination, with a few more shots on gaol, a close short corner attempt and a diving deflection from Hannah, which just went high over the crossbar. Half time approached and the team talk reinforced keeping it simple and being patient.

The third quarter started and so did the rain. Sevenoaks remained sitting off in a defensive press. But this was no worry for our defenders and early into the quarter Izzy (Bel) Yonge made it 1-0 with a great shot on goal sneaking into the near post and an interesting celebration. Shortly after our lead, a quick lapse in concentration resulted in Sevenoaks’ first corner of the game. Delph remained unfazed with two great saves to help Surbiton maintain the lead.

The last quarter was corner after corner for Surbiton and a few missed chances, however this season’s goalscoring machine, Hannah, added to her great deflections with one in the back of net making it 2-0. The team calmly closed out the rest of the game and have made it six from six, firmly secured the top of the table spot.

These bright stars (saying this gets you DOD) are looking forward to our home game vs Slough next weekend, followed by a team social of laser tag.
