By Colin Pike

With their Vitality Women's Hockey League Premier Division Top Six game at East Grinstead postponed due to East Grinstead's European indoor hockey participation in Cambrai, France, Surbiton's lead at the top of the table was cut to five points after Wimbledon won 1-0 at Clifton Robinsons.

Beth Bingham scored the only goal for Wimbledon, whilst Hampstead & Westminster lost ground after Beeston won 1-0 at Paddington Recreation Ground, thanks to Lauren Burrell.

Surbiton's game at East Grinstead has been rearranged for 4th March. Next weekend, Surbiton visit Clifton Robinsons on Saturday (push back 12 noon) and then host Beeston on Sunday afternoon (push back 2.30 pm).

In the Lower Six, leaders Loughborough Students drew 2-2 with second-placed Reading at Loughborough University. Loughborough led twice through Maisie Riley and Lorna Mackenzie, Georgia Hopkins equalising first for Reading with Jennifer Crossley snatching a point in the 69th minute.

The University of Birmingham missed the chance to close the gap on the top two after they lost 2-1 at home to the University of Nottingham. Maddie Axford and Marle Knobloch scored for Nottingham with Coca Hall scoring for Birmingham.

Buckingham are now eight points adrift at the bottom of the table after Holcombe won 4-0 at Stowe School. Tania Escaich's brace plus goals from Amelie Green and Catherine Ledesma brought Holcombe to within a point of both the University of Birmingham and the University of Nottingham.
