We used to have an administrator who had total control of selection but Saturday showed different. Players appeared out of nowhere and some volunteered to double up when they had initially not been keen. But I think everybody ended up reasonably satisfied. And we had a lady umpire on her fourth match – thank you Tracey, and well done – and the same to Paul.

Amazingly our form followed our form despite the pep talk prior to the game which collapsed when considering swapping first half “get to know you” with team play second half – the team wanted to play team first half and “get to know you” second.

Nonetheless we had our worst start of the season by conceding a goal after 56 seconds and it was a repair job from there. We did settle and everyone worked hard but we still conceded two more and then we scored. Greene carrying on his fever from the morning game. The second half was a repeat with Cheng finishing a well practised short corner plan.

The honesty was that the balance of play and the quality of it was not reflected by the scoreline and even the opposition tended to agree. One difference was that they had a natural born striker whereas our front are more creation than strike. Everyone put a big effort in – Rob Dunn did get a mention as POM.

There is one thing organising a side who just want to play a game and another organising a team for a bunch who seem to appreciate it and make a big effort to make it enjoyable on and off the field for everyone. Respect!
