Ladies 5s 1 - 4 Spencer 2s (H)

1st November 2022

By Charlotte Gallagher

POM: Bethan, Charlotte, Talya, Emma

On a week where players were plentiful and confidence was high following our previous win we were ready to take the game to top of the league club Spencer. However, misplaced passes and rushed decision making gave Spencer more possession than they possible deserved and with that came constant attacks on our D.

With their intended outcomes clearly being short corners, they won several in both halves of the game. Spencer clearly know where their strengths lie and some slick, well-practiced routines managed to sneak through our defences, despite some good saves by Sophie.

We had our moments of solid possession and incisive running and after winning a short corner of our own we had a 100% conversion rate to be proud of.

In the second half we moved the ball with more certainty and some high work rates saw us break down many of their attacks before they were too dangerous. As we continue to build and gel as a team we have some ‘even better ifs’ and certainly some ‘what went wells’ that we can take into next week’s fixture against the unknown force of EU Gamblers. I’m happy to bet on a Surbiton win for that one!
