Two More Wins Keep M2 Top on Goal Difference

8th November 2021

By Harry 'Shnu' Norris

Men’s 2s 3 – 0 West Hampstead 1s

Match played: Saturday 30th October
MOM: JET
DOD: Shnu

Two match reports incoming because some muppet forgot to write one last week… not naming any names. First game against a well-organised, stubborn, loud West Hampstead saw an uneventful first half ending 0-0. The second half saw a fantastic tackle from Shnu to halt a counter attack. The umpire, however, saw it differently and with a rush of blood put him in the bin for five. Quite frankly, I can’t remember the goals but the third one was prime Barcelona, finished off sexily by Dodders.

After the game was more fun, with a good turn out at the Spring Grove for the big Bean #realmendocry

Men’s 2s 6 – 4 Wimbledon 2s

Match played: Saturday 6th November
MOM: Scott
DOD: Shnu

Game 2. Drama in the church of Islington had super spreader Sorsby trying to corrupt our season with the VID. Don’t fret though sports fans, Des and Shnu’s immune systems are made of stronger stuff and were available for the local ‘top of the table’ derby. Apart from that, everything was as per usual: Beaumont was late, Jamma was a badger and Billy was hungover. After failing to rearrange his Richmond 2s game, Arj had to trudge his way down to Raynes Park to play with his favourite team. Following an enthralling Ladies 2s game, the boys were pumped and ready to go.

Early doors we went 1-0 down, then Casper equalised with the goal of his life so decided to do his best Houdini and disappear for the rest of the game. After this, Dodders found himself one on one with their keeper outside the D, who had a brain fart and slide tackled him (great challenge) to give himself a 10 minute yellow. In this spell we scored two of the worst open play goals you will see and Beaumont managed to bully Dylan off every short corner to flick straight down the middle. 5-1 at half time.

Second half we scored one more, shock, it was the Bean. Rhys miss trapped a straight, full one and ended his day holding his thumb in A&E. Then the lads were mentally already in the pub and conceded three goals. I recommend a swift round of lagers and a lateral flow for all involved. Onto next week with a home game against Wapping 2s as the warm up act before the L1 & M1 double header.
