Sirens Cruise to 4-0 Win Over Ashford
By Tracey House
Sirens 4 – 0 Ashford (Middx) Ladies 4s
15 keen players arrived at Surbiton on Saturday for our 'newbie' Sophie's first game for the Sirens.
We started off brightly but Ashford caught us off our guard for the first couple of minutes. They had some quick youngsters who we needed to watch carefully!
But we quickly found our rhythm with clean passing and the first two goals from Jane and Helen came from some strong and confident play. Jane had a few more chances but the oppo GK was up to the challenge.
When we used our width and quick passing the ball moved up the pitch with ease – a joy to watch. Jane eventually got a second goal and Victoria T scored with a great assist from Jane.
Sophie had a great first game, showing her speed and stick skills. Katie J is growing in confidence, even when she is playing out of position, and Monica stormed the midfield. A great team effort and great 4-0 win.
Our DOD / Moist Mug went to the Umpire Dave for counting 12 on the pitch when we actually only had 11. POM was a tie between Monica and Jane.
Thanks to Wendy and Dave for umpiring and to Molly and Lucia for the support.
