Captain Craze Strikes in L3 Win

18th May 2021

By Surbiton HC

Ladies 3s 2 – 0 Old Georgians L1

The SHC Ladies 3s finished their season with a 2-0 victory over Old Georgians at Sugden Road on Saturday. Goals came from youngster Jess, and a penalty stroke from Sian Craze in her final game as captain of the L3.

The stroke itself wasn’t the most emphatic goal that regular SHC Golden Stick winner Sian has ever scored, with one trusted anonymous source commenting, “Sian has scored some amazing goals in her time but this was the slowest penalty stroke ever – it crossed the line with dust on the ball.” We can confirm there is video evidence available to support this claim.

While Sian will (of course) still be playing for the club next season, Sian’s many years of service as a captain at SHC were celebrated in the marquee after the game.

Stevi Fisher-Norton describes Saturday afternoon’s events: “Having recovered from her career affirming penalty flick, Sian was met with gifts from team mates past and present. Many a Blue WKD was drunk, shapes were thrown and much merriment was had. Sian – thank you for your leadership, love and ability to control this motley crew. Here’s to the next 10 years!”
