Cobras in Solid 2-0 Victory

11th February 2020

By James King

Cobras 2 – 0 Kenley M3

It wasn't pretty ... but it was effective!

On a weekend when a number of the regular squad were otherwise occupied or nursing injuries, the Cobras welcomed back some old faces from their self-imposed mid season breaks together with some help from a Mongoose. With a bench of one and a front three with over 110 years of combined experience, pacing ourselves was always going to critical.

The Cobras back four were as resolute as ever and provided the solid platform for the rest of the squad. The introduction of Chris Ralph into the midfield introduced some creative spins, drag passes and fancy footwork... clearly something he has been working on during the Mongoose training camps. After a steady opening period, a well worked break down the left wing led to a clinical finish by Craig "I just can't stop scoring" Schultz.

The scrap continued in the second half and as the Cobras' legs tired, Kenley rotated their bench and increased the pressure. However, despite their best efforts, the opposition were unable to get on the score sheet and following a well executed short corner routine, William Tsolo pounced on a rebound to give the Cobras a two goal cushion, an advantage they held until the final whistle.

Another great team effort but a special mention to our MOTM, Gregor Falck, whose regular strength and conditioning sessions are clearly paying dividends. Onwards and upwards!
