Fair to say, it rained, and rained and rained - but not even the weather and a pitch that had seen better days (probably in the early 90s) could hamper what will go down as one of the best Sparticans performances to date.
A mix of consistency, structured play and simple passes ensured A&F didn’t send a chance and within the first 10 minutes we were 2 up and that should have been more. On loan Jamie and Curtis Jr played beautifully throughout the game stretching the opposite to breaking point and allowing the high mids and forwards to hit the post (3 times), put it over the top of the goal (twice) and generally make life a little more difficult than it should have been.
By half time we were 4 up and a calm Captain Bell urged the team to keep the structure and play like we had been playing in the first half. It worked, and the goals flooded in as width and simple passing tore the opposition apart. Lewis Curtis was stand out with his rapier like slaps across the goal mouth and by the time the final whistle went, a further 8 goals had been scored and Kev had finally found his mojo.
Thanks to Caitlin for supporting the cause in an innovative manner, and to A&F for superbly arranged teas :) Genuinely a whole team performance with neat passes and seamless linking up between players - a real masterclass.
