Solitary Goal Enough for Sparticans

13th November 2019

By Kevin Grant

Sparticans 1 – 0 Kenley M2s

Sparticans started sluggishly with passes not quite up to standard. With Andy giving us direction from the midfield we started taking control of the game holding on to majority of possession. Unfortunately along with a few wayward shots at goal from Kev we had nothing more than possession to show at half time.

Following a stern chat at half time, Sparticans came out firing in the second half. We played some good hockey with our back four totally controlling the game and giving the boys from Kenley nothing to build on. We had a few good shots at goal with the keeper from Kenley playing a blinder, saving everything we through at him.

Eventually, with good passes through the midfield, Lewis looking for Rich ‘postman’ Curtis with a shot to the far post, luckily got a touch from one of the Kenley sticks and deflected into the goal giving us a the goal we needed. 1-0!

Trying to build on the slender lead we continued to play some decent hockey but not able to capitalise with another goal. With the help of Lee in goal, making a few great saves, we saw the game out building on our win from last week. We sit comfortably at the top end of the log and look forward to a few more wins in the run up to the Christmas break.
