SHC Boys Under 14 Stoats Beat Ashford (Kent)

30th September 2019

Will Hayes

A competitive game saw the Boys U14 Stoats just about hang on to a 2-1 victory.

The Stoats started brightly with Tom C and George LT confidently transferring the ball around the back with ease. Three touch hockey was on display and some bright work down the left saw Teddy finish from a narrow angle to open the scoring.

Surbiton, under coach Billy Winter, pinged the ball around and the fact that many of our players were three years younger than the opposition had little effect on the score line.

The end of the second half saw Teddy make a neat run into the top of the D and hit a powerful shot into the bottom left hand corner to make it 2-0.

The second half saw the Stoats tire and revert to dribbling rather than passing hockey. Ashford had a great outlet in their strong powerful right winger who provided an assist for their neatly taken goal.

Some dodgy Surbiton tackling and use of the back of the stick ensued and the boys tired somewhat but they kept running. Shout outs to the excellent William in goal, Barnaby H smooth running up the right and neat two touch hockey from Rudi.

Many thanks to the parents for brownies post game!
