M6 Just Lose Out to Camberley

13th November 2019

By Jack C

Men’s 6s 1 – 2 Camberley & Farnham M2s

Man of Match: Dan R (Colt)

The match begun in Camberley’s pouring rain with the Mighty Sixes only having eleven men having lost Alfie in traffic on the way over.  However, this didn't unnerve us and we got off to a strong start creating numerous early chances but without managing to convert any.

It was clear it was going to be a physical game from the get-go, but we held our own with the colts refusing to be pushed around and continued to create chances with good play from Ben and Connor causing Camberley problems down the right.

Unfortunately, we went 1-0 down midway through the first half to a controversial goal scored from outside the D. But thankfully Howard Corney levelled the game with a flick into the net from a tight angle following a short corner. This left us 1-1 at the half time whistle, and still very much in the game and confident of coming away with the points.

As the score suggests, the second half didn't go as planned, but we tried our hardest.

Our 11 men soon became 10.5 as Ben picked up a slight injury (albeit he played on but not at 100%). The fact that we had no substitutes then began to take its toll. We tired, struggled to link up play and simply didn't have enough possession. With about 15 minutes to go, we conceded a goal to a good counterattack after we lost the ball in the midfield. After that, we tried our best to get a goal back but unfortunately couldn't find the back of the net due to some high-quality saves from their keeper.

The match ended 2-1 to them, with the bitter feeling of a loss being felt by everyone. Congratulations to Chris who made a tough debut. We will be back stronger next week!

Special thanks also to Superfan Jacko for turning out in the freezing rain to urge us on.
