M2 in Comfortable Victory Over Slough
By James Evans
SHC Men’s 2s 3 – 0 Slough M1s
On Saturday, the Men’s 2nd XI played Slough 1st XI, who were searching for their first win of the season, on a pitch that was stickier than the corners of Infernos normally frequented by Bills on a Friday night. Special mention to Bean who rocked up with a spring in his step and no sore back – hopefully he can continue this run of form and distinct upbeat outlook on life in the coming weeks.
The first half started slow with neither team scoring. A couple of good chances came Surbiton's a way with a danger push from Tom Smith after being gifted the ball at the top of D and an audacious between the legs effort from James Evans – both terribly executed. Score at halftime 0-0.
By the second half Slough was starting to slow down meaning Doidge and Beaumeant kept up with play well. Billy ‘I haven’t got a card in 5 years’ got a yellow for not being 5m while Rhys enjoyed a couple of greens for his efforts. We welcomed a few young lads into the team this week making their debuts for the side – Jake T, Tom F & Josh G. Solid performances all other than Tom deciding he'd had enough and dribbling off the pitch from a side-line hit.
The match finished 3-0, James Evans slotted two and Zac Long the third. Good result with only 13 men. Thanks to Frankie for stepping into the shoes of Coach for the day.
POM – Jake T
Not MOM – Tom Smith/James Evans
We currently third in the league and welcome Woking at home next weekend.
