Ladies 5s 5 - 2 Sunbury & Walton Hawks

Writing this on my way to work on a dreary Monday morning, the Ladies 5s 5-2 win on Saturday against Sunbury and Walton Hawks 1s seems like a distant dream of triumph. With our usual centre back Spuggie making an appearance on the front-line scoring alongside Mel and Jo we manged to creep 3-0 ahead against an increasingly agitated team in the first half. Play came to a stand-still before the half time whistle blew as we all stopped to admire a beautiful reverse sweep across the pitch from our youngest player, Jenni.
As we kicked off the second half Walton Hawks fought back managing to sneak past our defence injuring our Player of the Match Charlie A and scoring 2 (undeserved) goals. Realising we couldn’t give up, the Ladies 5s hustled hard to push back ahead with Holly scoring her first goal of the season and a second goal sneaking in from Spuggie.
Overall the team played some great hockey for a well-deserved win. Bring on the rest of the season!
