L2 Beat The University of Bristol 8-2

Surbiton Ladies' second team maintained their four point lead at the top of the Investec Women's Hockey League Conference West with an 8-2 win over bottom club University of Bristol at Sugden Road on Saturday.

Tasmin Cookman opened the scoring in the eighth minute with Alice Klugman adding a second goal four minutes later.

Olivia Sherwen pulled a goal back for the visitors in the 21st minute but captain, Hannah Denison restored Surbiton's two goal advantage in the 25th minute.

Three minutes before half time, Issy Carey made the score 4-1.

Pippi Spawforth scored Surbiton's fifth goal in the 43rd minute with Tamera Cookman extending the leaders' advantage to 6-1 in the 55th minute.

Two minutes later, Susanna McCollum scored what proved to be a second consolation goal for the University of Bristol, but Tasmin Cookman completed a hat-trick with late strikes in the 62nd and 70th minutes.

Going into the game, Surbiton had led four teams by four points but now lead Oxford University by four points after Clifton Robinsons' second team drew 0-0 at home to Oxford Hawks and Basingstoke lost 1-0 at home to Oxford University.

Surbiton visit Oxford Hawks next Saturday (23 November) push back 12 noon.
