Cobras Just Lose Out to Reigate Priory
By James Hamper
SHC Cobras 3 - 4 Reigate Priory Men's 5s
Player of the Match: Andy Little
First game of the season is often a bit rusty and unfortunately this was no exception. There was lots of huff but also a lot of puffing, and up against a strong Reigate Priory Mens 5 with a number of Colts, fitness was going to be key.
And this was the case as a lack of structure and fitness resulted in Man of the Match Andy Little in goal needing to make a number of vital saves to keep the scoreboard in check. However, there were also periods of the game that brought back memories of last season’s league win, including great goals from Alex McKee and Rich O’Connor. When Craig Schultz scored a deflection wonder goal it looked like the Cobras might pull off a surprise win.
However, it wasn’t to be as wave after wave of breakaway attacks pounded the defence in the last 10 minutes and resulted in two late goals that took the points away! A frustrating loss in the end but an honest assessment would be that there is work to be done to get the team firing properly and in the end the 3-4 loss reflected that. Onwards and upwards!
