Cobras Beat Kenley 2-0

29th October 2019

By James Hamper

Cobras 2 – 0 Kenley M3s

Cobras had another good game in terrible weather on the Surbiton water on Saturday.

Buoyed by the England semi final performance, the team quickly found their feet and controlled both possession and territory for large portions of the game.

Converting chances into goals is still the challenge for the team but poacher Schultz picked up another and Oli Stacey gave us a 2-0 lead at half time.

Second half was much the same without any further goals, mostly due to an exceptional performance by the Kenley keeper.

With hamstrings starting to tighten, we lost Gregor Falck to the bench and James King dropped back to stationary sweeper so we reshuffled the midfield to allow the colts a bit more room to play. This proved a wise call with man of the match Harry Guy-Williams relishing the space in midfield and Alfie Riley making some probing runs in space on the left.

All in all a fun outing against a challenging opposition. Final whistle gave us a chance to get out the rain and into the club for another super Saturday match tea!
