Nine SHC Players Selected for Pro League Openers
By Surbiton HC
Nine current Surbiton players have been selected for Great Britain’s opening Pro League fixtures of 2020 in Australia and New Zealand.
Three of the Ladies 1s will travel with the squad of 22 – Giselle Ansley, Hannah Martin and goalkeeper Sabbie Heesh. Sarah Evans and Emily Defroand are continuing their recoveries from injury and concussion respectively, but will hope to pull on GB colours in the spring.
Surbiton also provides more than a quarter of the 22-man squad travelling to Australasia, with six current players selected: Harry Gibson (GK), Luke Taylor, Zach Wallace, Tom Sorsby, James Gall and Alan Forsyth.
A number of former SHC players are also involved, including GB debutant Rupert Shipperley who now plays his club hockey for Hampstead & Westminster.
Each squad will play four Pro League games in total on the trip, with Double Headers in Sydney (1-2 February) and Auckland (8-9 February).
