Double Olympian Liz Thompson Signs For Surbiton

We are excited to announce that New Zealand international Liz Thompson has joined Surbiton Women’s 1s from Auckland-based club Somerville.
Double Olympian Liz has over 220 senior caps for NZ and won her first international medal as a teenager at the 2014 Commonwealth Games. With a decade of international hockey under her belt, she will add both experience and quality to the W1 squad with her speed, ball carry skills out of defence and tough tackling.
Liz says, “I’m really looking forward to the season ahead with Surbiton. It’s great to be a part of such a reputable club and I’m excited for the new challenge ahead.”
Coach Dave Beckett says, “Bringing Liz in for the coming season only strengthens our squad once again. Adding her to our squad will be a massive positive with both her level of hockey and the experience she brings. I know all of the coaching and management team are looking forward to welcoming her to the club following her international duty with NZ next month.”
