England Hockey is pleased to announce Surbiton Hockey Club as the location for the 2022-23 Premier Division finals.

This showpiece event for the elite level of domestic hockey in England will take place on Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd April 2023, and will see the top four teams from the England Men’s Hockey League and Vitality Women’s Hockey League play off in semi-finals and then a final for the chance to win the league title and a coveted place in Europe.

Last staged in 2019, Finals weekend makes a return this year following consultation with the Premier Division clubs and is the culmination of the new dynamic league structure designed to give more to play for throughout the season, and greater intensity for players and clubs.

Surbiton were awarded the Finals weekend following a bidding process. They are no strangers to holding top level domestic and international events, having hosted the EuroHockey Club Cup in 2018 at their Sugden Road ground.

Rich Beer, England Hockey’s Sport and Development Director said, “We are looking forward to working with Surbiton to deliver the pinnacle of the Premier Division season. In our discussions with clubs over the last few years there was a strong appetite to bring this event back and make it a club hosted event. We have listened to that feedback, and we are looking forward to seeing a high level of competition over the weekend.”

Surbiton Club President Andy Powdrell said, “Surbiton HC are delighted to be hosting the end of season Premier Division finals for both men and women, which gives us a fantastic opportunity to showcase the best hockey teams in the country to our local community and beyond. We look forward to working with England Hockey and our fellow clubs to keep everyone up to date as the event draws closer - it should be a fantastic weekend!”

Further information on the schedule for the weekend and how to book tickets will be released in the coming weeks.
