The latest from the Clubhouse Team...

A Farewell Message from Ann
As most of you will have seen or heard I will be leaving the SHC fold at the end of this year. It is time for me to have a rest, regroup and then explore a new challenge which plays to my strengths...
It has been an amazing seven years since I took over from Verity, working a mere 12 hours a week! And things have certainly changed a bit... Mark Waller was Club Captain when I joined and Suresh was the President, Grumpy Corner was already a thing, and Hugh & Oli were creating kitchen nightmares whilst making the best match teas in the world.
There were also numerous volunteers. I’ve seen off most of the original volunteers except Tony “The Fixer” Portelly and Charlie “The Arsenal” Sheridan. Volunteers have been a huge part of my time here, especially during the phenomenal tournaments we have put on... please do keep on giving that bit extra, it really makes a difference.
There have been a few constants on the management front; firstly Fred, who gives so much time and energy to the club, Will and Frankie who have grown the Juniors immeasurably, Gill who has looked after the ever increasing membership with steely determination and Chrissie who manages to shoehorn in all the matches. Thank you to you all for your help.
There is one person who I kind of clicked with very early on, and now as Club Captain, “The Big Boss” Sian tries to sort everything for everybody, hence I guess we became kindred spirits, especially when it comes to trying to do fun stuff.
Thank you to all for putting your faith in me that the bar, catering and social side of the club could be so much more than it was as the wider club grows and evolves.
My team over the years have been brilliant and we have had laughs, most have been youngsters and it has always been great to see them come back and help - the Playoff Finals were testament to that.
Thank you all, I’m sure I’ll see most of you in the next few weeks but if not I wish you all a Happy Christmas and healthy new year and all the best for the future. I suspect I’ll make a guest appearance at some point next year, if only to play pool and make the most of my social membership...
The new manager will be in place at the start of December and I trust you will all give her as much help in the early days as you gave me.

Cocktail Party - 9th December 2023
Don’t forget it’s the annual Cocktail Party very soon and tickets are now on sale on Teamo.
A choice of welcome drink will also be available throughout the evening. Although the theme is 1970s Studio 54, many of these cocktails on the menu below were not made until well after the 1980s so we are going to rewrite history!
- Pornstar Martini – Vodka, Prosecco & Passion Fruit
- Strawberry Daquiri – White Rum & Strawberry
- Margarita – Tequila
- Dark & Stormy – Spiced Rum & Ginger Beer
- Bourbon Rickey – Bourbon, Lime & Soda
- Club Zombie – A carefully selected range of whatever we need to get rid of, served over ice
