Update on Premises Licence Application

Liselle and I attended a lively Long Ditton Residents Association meeting last Wednesday where we answered some of the concerns that local residents have regarding our application. Many were unaware of the way we operate at the moment and whilst we appeased some, there are others who are adamant that we are nothing but a nuisance.

I have seen the representations that have been put to the Council and there are a range of concerns from “whistles, shouts and people speaking” to “the blasting of outdoor music” to “late night noise affecting local wildlife”. All of them raise the same point of people leaving noisily, lingering in the car park and being a drunken nuisance. We can all help our reputation by being more responsible. We are in a residential area and need to take that into account when leaving, especially late in the evening.

Whilst they are all heavily weighted on the negative side, many do say they know what a great club we are and one even likes our ‘annual bonfire night’ (!). We go to a hearing next week so I’ll update you all when there is news.

Clubhouse Vacancies

The news of my departure has been the worst kept secret and it is time to reach out to you as you may know someone who would be a suitable replacement. We will be putting this out to a recruitment agency in the next couple of weeks.

General Clubhouse Manager

  • Responsible for the day to day running of all aspects of the clubhouse
  • Must be a Personal Licence holder and willing to be the DPS, ensuring all licensing objectives and constraints are adhered to
  • Managing staff rotas, recruitment & training
  • Epos programming, reporting and membership database management
  • This is a wide and varied role and would suit someone with a “Can do” attitude and knowledge of the running of a dynamic sports club.
  • 40 hours per week
  • Salary details dependant on experience.

Bar Supervisor

  • Preferably a Personal Licence holder
  • Experience in stock management, legislation and the ability to work with and lead a young team

In the first instance please email CV to clubhouse@surbitonhc.com

Water Fountain
Huge thanks to Bathroom Eleven for not giving up on the water fountain, it has taken a year but it is all cleaned out and now flowing as it should be, please make your opposition aware of its whereabouts.

Car Park Reminders
Please do not park in front of the overflow gates, we really do need the space – every day.
On Sunday a car was broken into in the car park, whilst this is a rare occurrence please do not leave anything tempting on display, hopefully the culprit will be caught.

Lost Property
As you all know we deal with a large amount of personal items that are left at the club, whilst we try and make most of it available to be rehomed, there are some items that we will not be able to for general hygiene reasons. Mouthguards and underwear will not be put in the lost property.
