7th January 2022

By Colin Pike

Both Surbiton First Teams will be in Super 6s Action this weekend as indoor hockey resumes after a break in 2021 due to Covid-19.

Surbiton Men will be heading to Repton to defend their Super 6s title from 2020, when they beat Holcombe 3-2 in the final at the Copper Box Arena.

Surbiton will face Brooklands Manchester University; East Grinstead; Hampstead & Westminster; Holcombe; Reading; Repton; Sevenoaks and Wimbledon in the nine team Premier Division.

The qualifying competition, which sees the top four teams reach the Finals Day, with the bottom two teams relegated to Division One, is played over two weekends with each team playing four games over each weekend.

Surbiton start their title defence at 1230 on 8 January, when they meet Reading and follow up with a replay of the 2020 final against Holcombe at 1730.

Sunday sees two tough matches with East Grinstead providing a noon showdown, with the first weekend concluding with a local derby against Wimbledon.

The second weekend will see Surbiton face Repton, Brooklands Manchester University, Sevenoaks and Hampstead & Westminster.

Surbiton's local outdoor rivals, Old Georgians, will be aiming to win promotion to the Premier Division when they host the Division One tournament at St. George's College over the next two weekends.
