GB’s Hannah Martin Rejoins Surbiton After Season in Holland

20th May 2022

By Surbiton HC

The Ladies 1s will be boosted by the return of former player and GB star Hannah Martin for the 2022/23 season.

Hannah played for Surbiton for five very successful seasons before heading to Dutch Hoofdklasse for the 2021/22 campaign just weeks after bringing home a bronze medal from her maiden Olympics in Tokyo last summer. Renowned for her incredible elimination skills and close range goalscoring, Hannah is now approaching 100 international caps having debuted in 2017 and will add further firepower to an eye-catching Surbiton attacking unit next season.

Hannah is excited to be returning to Sugden Road: “After a brilliant year in the Netherlands at THC Hurley, I’m looking forward to returning to Surbiton HC. I loved my time in Holland, and it provided the opportunity to challenge myself as a player and grow as a person experiencing a different culture and living in a new country, and I was lucky enough to meet some wonderful people. Coming back to the UK, I am so excited for what’s to come with Surbiton with there being so many incredible plans for the wider club moving forward!”

L1 Coach Brett Garrard is also delighted to welcome Hannah back into the fold: “I’m so pleased that Hannah is returning to the club after a year in Holland and a successful Olympics in Tokyo. Her experiences and attacking quality will make her a great addition to the team and I personally can’t wait to help her continue her development over the coming years.”

From all at the club, welcome back Hannah! We look forward to seeing you back in Surbiton colours again in 2022/23.
