Sparticans Support Chrissie’s #MilesForMarsden Challenge

1st February 2021

By Simon Fitch

The latest team effort from the Sparticans...

The final weekend of a busy January for the Sparticans saw the team’s latest challenge move from the homes and gardens of Surrey to a little further afield, as we supported Chrissie W-D in her final weekend of the #milesformarsden challenge on 30th – 31st January.

Over 150k were either ran or cycled over the weekend, mainly on two feet rather than wheels, with a stash of cash being donated by the lads.

The Gaffer Richard Curtis started things off by getting drenched – we were planning to show our Surbiton colours but the biblical weather meant we put waterproofs before waterlogging all weekend.

Strava was on fire as the Ks were racked up. James Welch AKA the returning Swampy finished things off and, with Fitchy, played a key part in the live scenes around moving Chrissie’s Justgiving total to more than £1,000. Spartican of The Day was awarded to James Robert Andrew, who cycled to Leatherhead’s ground at Therfield School before returning to the Sugden Road field of dreams for his game face photo…

After our match teas and snowmen challenges, this weekend marked the start of our pre-season training, which is currently of undefined length. But we can only hope…

Well done to Chrissie for smashing both the challenge itself and her fundraising target. It’s not too late to donate! Show your support for Chrissie and Marsden here
