By Surbiton HC

Surbiton HC’s first teams and supporters have plenty of EHL action to look forward to during the upcoming season.

2019/20 EHL: Rescheduled

This season’s EHL competition, due to be held over the Easter weekend, was put on hold at the outset of the coronavirus crisis. The EHL has announced provisional rescheduled dates, subject to clearance from the Dutch government.

“It remains our intention to complete the 2019/20 season of the EHL Men and Women’s FINAL8 at AH&BC Amsterdam from October 14th to 18th 2020”, explained EHL Chairman, Hans Erik Tuijt. “Unfortunately, it is not possible for the ABN AMRO EHL U14 events for 2020 to go ahead.”

In the Women’s EHL Final 8, the Surbiton L1 come up against Germany’s Der Club An Der Alster set to take place at 4pm BST (5pm local time) on Wednesday 14th October.

This will be followed by the M1’s EHL Final 8 game against Dutch powerhouses Bloemendaal at 6.15pm BST (7.15pm local time).

2020/21 EHL: Reformatted

With both squads confirmed as 2019/20 English National Champions, it has also been confirmed that Surbiton will have again double representation in the EHL for the 2020/21 season.

The format of the tournament has been altered slightly – for one season only, three separate competitions will all take place over Easter 2021: the EHL Men’s Final 12, the EHL Cup (both 31st March – 5th April 2021) and the EHL Women’s Final 8 (1st – 5th April 2021).

Two fellow English club sides have also qualified for Europe following their 2019/20 domestic campaigns. Hampstead & Westminster M1 will compete in the EHL Cup, while East Grinstead’s L1 will appear in the EuroClub Trophy.
