My Christmas finale!

This week I would like to say some thank you’s. Firstly, to my team - we are a select bunch and have been further decreased since the second lockdown.

Barman Ed has been a star and Elisa has added some glamour to our Saturday service. The tea hut gang, Sophia, Emily and Tom who arrive at the crack of dawn on Sundays to serve up bacon & sausage baps and great coffees. Bill who has made gatekeeper his own and welcomes everyone on Saturdays with charm even when it is wet and cold. Hugh, Oli and Debbie in the kitchen, who have pulled off some great meals and are also responsible for making extras so we can facilitate food on weeknights. Thank you all!

The biggest thank you of all though has to go to you, the amazing SHC members for taking to the ever changing rules. It makes such a difference when we all work together.

I am hoping that we can finish off 2020 next weekend… please watch this space for news on match teas for anyone who is able to play, and crucially please contact me on surbitonhockey@gmail.com ASAP to arrange your team’s teas if required so that we can get things organised in the kitchen.

There is still a fully stocked bar and the option of a Substantial Sports Star Super Supper available during the week. This week’s dish is fruity turkey (or vegetarian) casserole with “bauble" and squeak. Do pre-order as soon as you arrive if you’d like to eat on a weeknight.

Christmas closing
The bar will be closed from Monday 21st December until Friday 1st January when we hope to hold the annual New Year's Day matches for our more mature (I use the term loosely) members. As I understand it we will then be straight back to it on the 2nd, but, as you know by now it is an ever changing situation so please look out for communications from the club.

Last but by no means least I would like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a healthy New Year.
