Clubhouse Corner - 15th September

15th September 2020

By Ann Bedford

A bit of moaning, a bit of positivity and the introduction of Surbiton Oche Club!

Thanks again to all those who stuck to the one way systems and social distancing guidelines – it is now more important than ever that these are all followed. We have a busy weekend coming up and cannot afford any slip ups or complaints (there were a couple this weekend).

The rules in place are for everyone and look like they are set to stay for a good while so please please help us make the days fun and safe for everyone.

We desperately need some match day volunteers to marshal and generally help and direct people. Myself and Waldo spent most of Saturday on the gate last week and it was a great opportunity to present the club in a friendly yet efficient way. If you can help (even if only for an hour) it would be much appreciated - please contact Andy Powdrell: pwdrandr@aol.com

Due to the popularity of watching games from the bank we will be limiting numbers this weekend. There are also white crossed boxes along the fence of each pitch – only one group of up to six can be in between these boxes at a time.

One way systems will be slightly different this week due to the continued closure of changing rooms and showers – please take note and ensure you and your opposition know what is expected.

The schedule for match tea slots is below. You will see there is not much "wiggle room" so please ensure both teams are good to go at the right time and that the dedicated tables are cleared and free in time for players from the following match. If we work together we can make it all run smoothly. The popular introduction of table service for drinks will continue.

Top prize for organisation goes to the Cobras this week! They had pre arranged their groups of six for teas, a brilliant initiative that was uber efficient and meant those staying to drink were in the same group as they ate with (exactly what is supposed to happen).

Away from the topic of Covid, rules and more rules I would like to gauge the level of interest for the introduction of Surbiton Oche Club. We have dart boards and an indoor space available on Monday and Tuesday evenings as the Bridge Club are not likely to return until the new year at the earliest.

Please let me know if you would be interested in throwing some arrows (your own of course, no sharing allowed!). I am looking to introduce it by the end of September if we have enough interest.

Thanks again and let's all try and get it right this weekend.
