M1 Visit Brooklands Manchester University On Sunday
By Colin Pike
Surbiton Men make the long trip to Brooklands Manchester University on Sunday (push back 12.15 pm).
Surbiton go to Brooklands as leaders of the Men's Hockey League Premier Division after winning 10-1 at Reading and beating Beeston 4-2 at home last week.
In contrast, Brooklands are still looking for their first points of the season after losing 3-1 at home to Wimbledon on opening day, Andrew Jackson scoring their goal.
Then last week, Brooklands led 3-1 at East Grinstead at half time thanks to Aidan Khares, Eddie Way and Richard Slater before the West Sussex club mounted an incredible second half comeback to win 5-3.
Last season's fixture at Brooklands was a goal fest, Surbiton winning 7-2 in October. Alan Forsyth scored a hat-trick and James Royce and Ben Boon each scored twice after Surbiton led 3-1 at half time.
Dan Vincent and Slater were Brooklands' scorers.
Surbiton also scored seven goals in the return fixture at Sugden Road in March, Forsyth this time scoring twice with David Goodfield, Tom Sorsby, William Marshall, Zach Wallace and Boon all getting on the scoresheet in a 7-1 win. Sam Perrin scored a late consolation goal for the visitors.
Elsewhere this weekend, Old Georgians host Wimbledon on Saturday night while the other fixtures all take place on Sunday.
East Grinstead visit Beeston; Holcombe host Hampstead & Westminster and Reading are at home to the University of Exeter.
