Four Surbiton Players Named In GB Women's Squad For Olympic Qualifiers

25th October 2019

By Colin Pike

Four Surbiton players have been selected to play against Chile at Lee Valley Hockey and Tennis Centre next weekend in the two leg Olympic Qualifiers.

Giselle Ansley, Sarah Evans, Sabbie Heesh and Hannah Martin have all been named by Head Coach Mark Hager, along with former Surbiton players Izzy Petter (currently at Loughborough Students) and Hollie Pearne-Webb (not playing club hockey this season).

The games will be played on Saturday 2 November at 1400 and on Sunday 3 November at 1200 with the aggregate score deciding which team will progress to the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and which team will miss its final opportunity to qualify.

Evans returns after missing the final FIH Pro League match at the Stoop through injury.

On the subject of selection, Hager said, "It's been a tough decision around selection as any number of our squad could have made the team." Hager also referred to the squad as "It's an exciting and very well-balanced group."
