Women's 4s 1 - 1 London Edwardians 1s (H)

Gameday: 7th February 2026

By Emma Chandler

On a rainy February Saturday, cold and wet,
Surbiton 4s faced Edwardians, a test well met,
The pitch shone slick beneath the grey-skied dome,
Two teams lined up, far from dry, but at home.

The first half leaned Eds’ way with control,
Short corners piled up, for reasons unknown to all,
From one such chance the breakthrough was scored,
A clean strike made it one–nil on the board.

After the break the balance shifted gear,
Surbiton fought back with far more cheer,
Swindell and Emily ran without rest,
Joint players of the match, for work rate at its best.

Bing then charged forward in a glorious dash,
Only to fall to a cramp — dramatic crash,
Laughter followed, though pain was the theme,
“Like labour,” she claimed, somewhere in between.

As the minutes drained and hope ran thin,
Herbie struck toward goal with intent to win,
The ball crawled slowly, no speed, no flair,
Like a snail with purpose — but crossed the line fair.

So the whistle blew on a soggy draw,
A match of two halves, grit and more,
Rain, runs, cramp, the drama all fun,
Surbiton and Edwardians ending 1–1.
