Men's 1s 2 - 0 Old Georgians 1s (H)

Gameday: 28th March 2026

The Surbiton Men’s 1s gave themselves the perfect lead-in to next week’s EHL competition and maintained their domestic momentum with a 2-0 victory over local rivals Old Georgians under the lights on Saturday evening.

The atmosphere at Sugden Road was buzzing, with a large crowd pitchside following the official opening of the new clubhouse ahead of the game. It took just two minutes for Surbiton to take the lead, with Jake Payton finishing on the right hand post after the ball flashed diagonally across the circle.

The Seals’ second goal came four minutes before the half time break, with Will Calnan slamming home a near post forehand past James Mazarelo after OGs blocked but couldn’t clear penalty corner efforts from Stu Rushmere and James Gall.

With no further goals scored in the second half, Surbiton maintained control to secure a 2-0 win and take another three points with two weeks until the next Phase 2 action.

The result marks 15 wins from 15 this season, and is Surbiton’s third victory on the bounce over Old Georgians including last season’s Playoff Final win. With another potential mouthwatering clash at the semi final stage of EHL should both teams with their KO8 matches, it should give Surbiton confidence as they seek to win a European medal for the first time since 2022.
