Women’s 4s 1 - 0 Wapping 2s (A)

The journey to the match was long. The train commuters met early, leaving plenty of time to get to the pitch (or so we thought). Our early commute meant stopping at Waterloo for a wee bite to eat to fuel up for the match ahead. With our stomachs full there was one last stop. Coffee. We scoured the streets and malls, so tired I started hearing whales... it was not a whale. With our coffee in hand, we started our warmup – the walk to the pitch, which was then followed by our warmup. We were ready.
It was an intensive first 20 minutes but with great defending and a secure press we held our ground. Although some of us did not and fell roughly four times...
We created plenty of attacking opportunities with Freya out skilling the opposition down the line. The Wapping keeper did well to keep our shots out. The first half ended 0-0, but we knew something was coming.
The second half was intense with Wapping pressuring us in our half. They got short corners but with our solid defending they had no luck. Midway through the second half Maddie was relentless in defence, with her socks keeping her nimble on the pitch. She made a pass to Emma who broke through their defence and created a one on one with the keeper. She outplayed the keeper getting around them to score the magnificent goal that would secure our win. Wapping kept fighting trying to get a goal in the last minutes but our persistence as a team continued to the last whistle.
We dominated the match and came away with a well-deserved win.
