Women’s 4s 1 - 2 Harrow 1s (A)
By Maddie Wearne
In a game that tested our resilience, Surbiton W4s fell just short against Harrow W1s, losing 2-1 in a hard-fought contest.
The match started at a relentless pace, with Harrow pressing high and capitalising on early chances. Two quick goals in the first 15 minutes put us on the back foot, but instead of letting our heads drop, we responded with grit and composure.
As the half wore on, we found our rhythm, moving the ball with more confidence and putting pressure on their defence. After a foul from a short, a penalty flick was awarded and with ice-cool composure, Sunny slotted the ball into the net.
In the second half, Rosie stood out for her excellent attacks as Surbiton dominated possession. But despite our relentless efforts, the final touch eluded us. It was frustrating, but it also showed just how dangerous we can be when we play with confidence and intent.
At the other end, Lexi in goal put in a standout performance, making a series of spectacular saves and keeping Harrow from extending their lead, giving us every chance to fight until the final whistle.
While the result wasn’t what we wanted, our performance showed we are more than capable of turning things around. So, with enthusiasm matching Maddie’s celebration of a goal that was disallowed, let’s move into our next games and prove what we’re made of.
