Read to the end for the answer.
Our fingers were cold and our legs were stiff from the long train journey down to St Dunstan’s College. But after warming up our cricket swings and bowling arms we were raring to go.
The opening minutes were a blur of quick interceptions and fast passes from both teams. Little did we know that approximately 19 minutes and 16 seconds into the game our first goal would be slammed into the back boards by Lisa, raising our spirits and the scoreline.
But there was no time to rest as the opposition fought back hard. They relentlessly attacked our D but thanks to Ava keeping her head in the game and making some spectacular saves, the score stayed steady as half time rolled around.
The second half started intensely with Tegan working hard to create lots of scoring opportunities. The team could smell another goal coming, or perhaps that was the petrichor as the heavens soon opened and the rain began to mix with our sweat. Then came a beautiful disguised slap into the D that met Lisa’s stick, who, deciding to share the goal love, passed it to Swindell, who placed the ball into the back of the goal.
High from the two goal lead we continued to move the ball threateningly in the attacking end of the pitch. but despite our efforts the other team scored a cheeky goal in the final few minutes of the game, but it wasn’t enough to halt our momentum (or maybe we halted their momentum because Charlotte almost got a card, just some food for thought) and the game ended with a well fought result of 2-1.
And now, the moment you’ve all been waiting for, the answer to the question. It was of course D, to remind us all of the 3 Ds that thou shalt never forget: Disrupt, Delay and something I can’t remember.
