Women's 4s 1 - 1 London Edwardians 1s (A)

Gameday: 18th October 2025

By Evie Tinkler

We arrived on time (a small miracle in itself), and Ralph immediately set the tone by showing everyone up at a competitive round of Flip the Bottle. Spirits were high heading into the warm up after a strong team talk from Charlotte and Herbie, and we were eager to get started and, let’s be honest, to finish as soon as possible!

The game kicked off quickly, and we made an energetic start with some sharp attacking play and good chances in the circle. Our persistence paid off when Emma found herself 1v1 with the keeper and coolly slotted home the opening goal. Confidence lifted across the pitch as we kept the pressure on, with Freya putting in a standout performance down the line - her speed, skill, and relentless drives earning her a well-deserved Player of the Match.

After another inspiring half-time talk from Herbie, we went back out with a much clearer understanding of the press, and it showed. The back line of Scar, Maddie, and Sunny were solid throughout, shutting down attacks and quickly moving the ball up to our forwards.

There was, however, a slightly less elegant moment when I attempted an aerial that barely cleared my own head, coining a new term, the Squarial, and earning myself the prestigious DOD title.

With five minutes to go, London Edwardians managed a strong counter attack and scored from a well-hit strike. Despite that setback, we pushed hard to the final whistle, earning multiple short corners and finishing the game with one last effort in the D.

Although it ended 1–1, it was a great performance across the team, full of energy, teamwork, and promise. It was lovely playing together, and we’re already looking forward to the rematch on home turf later in the season!
