19th April 2025

By Colin Pike

Surbiton's Under-14 Girls, who won the Euro Hockey League title in 2024, are on course to retain their title after finishing top of Pool B to reach the semi-finals.

Surbiton will face Real Club de Polo, runners-up in Pool A behind Münchner SC at 0900 BST on Sunday.

Surbiton started with a 6-0 win over Klein Zwitserland, Darcy Johnson-Murell opening the scoring in the tenth minute from a penalty corner.

Klein Zwitserland trailed 1-0 until the 28th minute when Surbiton started to find their scoring form.

Hattie Bushnell scored Surbiton's second from another penalty corner in the 28th minute, with Lizzie Brain adding the third from open play three minutes later.

In the 34th minute, Grace Taylor scored from a penalty corner with Izzy Joyce quickly following up with an open play goal in the next minute.

Isabel Carter completed the victory with a penalty corner conversion in added on time at the end of the match which was played over two halves of twenty minutes.

Surbiton's second and last Pool B match was a rematch of the 2024 final which saw Surbiton beat Braxgata 1-0 to lift the trophy. And in 2025, the result was exactly the same, Izzy Joyce scoring the only goal in the sixth minute.

Klein Zwitserland joined Surbiton in the semi-finals with a 3-0 win over Braxgata and will face Münchner SC in the second semi-final.

Braxgata will take on hosts, 's-Hertogenbosch for fifth place.
