Sirens 0 - 2 Sunbury & Walton Hawks 4s (A)

Gameday: 20th September 2025

By Tracey House

Team: Caitlin GK, Hayley, Suz, Claire J, Emma, Lisa, Claire T, Tessa, Nao, Joanna, Jax, Charlotte, Frankie, Morven

Sirens were away to Sunbury and Walton Hawks 4s on Saturday. A bit of an early start but we all arrived on time. A dull morning weather-wise, but there were some bright sparks on the hockey pitch.

We welcomed Caitlin in goal and Joanna from the Wolves, and Morven from B2H. There were a lot of changes to adapt to today, with many players in unfamiliar positions.

Good forward play brought moments of excitement, and while the scoreboard may not have lit up for the Sirens, the game certainly wasn’t short of drama. A few eyebrow-raising decisions added to the drama - proving that the Sirens not only play hard, but know their rules too.

A few players ended up lying on the pitch and Hayley just managed to avoid a collision with an umpire who was standing in an interesting umpiring position.

Morven, who is possibly more at home in a swimming pool or on the ski slope, ran her socks off in her first ever 11 aside game.  Caitlin kept the score to a minimum with some strong saves.

Hayley won the POM for staying solid and composed throughout, shutting down attacks effectively. Suz won Wally Wig of the Week award for not realising she was on the pitch at the start of the game (which apparently was Tracey's fault!)
