Sirens Party Report: A Day Out at Old Cranleighans!
It was a chilly Saturday afternoon, perfect for a party, as the Sirens packed their sticks and whistles for an exciting away trip to Old Cranleighans! Everyone was ready for fun, but the home team quickly became the party poopers!
First Half Fun... and Fouls!
The first half was a bit like trying to pin the tail on the donkey while wearing a blindfold. Old Cranleighans managed to sneak in two goals, like hungry guests grabbing the first slices of cake!
Surbiton tried their very best, but the Old Cranleighans team kept forgetting their manners – there were quite a few 'high sticks' waved around, which is a big 'NO-NO' in hockey manners! Luckily, our own Suz was the ultimate superhero defender! She was like a brick wall, blocking everything and making sure the party wasn't completely ruined. Every time the opposition thought they were going to score, BAM! Suz was there!
The Amazing Second Half Rally!
After a quick half time orange and a jelly baby, and a chat, the Sirens came out for the second half with amazing energy – like they'd just eaten all the fizzy sweets! This half was fantastic, with the team creating so many chances. They were playing brilliantly together!
- Claire T was launching the ball up the pitch with incredible big hits, like a super-powered cannon shooting confetti!
- Ivett was zooming all over the place, doing amazing running that tired out the Old Cranleighans defence.
- The dynamic duo of Charlotte and Frankie were unstoppable, driving up the pitch and working hard to create present-wrapped chances right in front of the goal!
The pressure was non-stop, but sadly, Old Cranleighans managed to grab just one more cheeky goal, bringing the final score to a disappointing 3-0 loss.
Five Minutes of Power!
In the final few minutes, Sarah S suddenly turned into a hockey-playing Hulk! She unleashed an amazing last five minutes of power, sprinting and tackling like her life depended on it. It was a wonderful show of never giving up, right until the final 'Pass the Parcel' whistle!
Surbiton's Star Party Goers!
Even though we didn't win the party games this week, everyone deserves a prize for effort! The whole team showed great spirit, particularly in that dazzling second half!
Next week, let's make sure Surbiton scores all the goals and brings home the party bags! Well played, everyone!
