Back to Hockey Tournament Season Starts Strong
By Sarah Smith
The first B2H 7s hockey tournament of the season took place on Saturday, and what a great way to kick things off! With a solid turnout of three full teams - the Dragons, the Sirins, and the Griffins - the event had a buzzing, friendly atmosphere from the first whistle to the last.
The tournament saw a mix of experienced players and enthusiastic newcomers, all of whom stepped up and performed really well despite some people having only done two training sessions so far. In every team, the more seasoned players made a real effort to bring the new starters into the game, ensuring everyone got stuck in and had their moments on the pitch.
A big shoutout and thank you goes to Jez, Roger, Will and Apurva for umpiring throughout the day and to all those who contributed to running the control desk. It’s always appreciated when players volunteer their time to keep things running smoothly.
We had some great supporters there cheering everybody on, with children of all ages running around and enjoying the action too. The rain mostly held off thankfully, although the sprinkler had other ideas and managed to soak the control desk and the B2H supporters!
All in all, a really enjoyable start to the competitive season. Players get a lot out of these events, where they see what areas they can work on ready for the next tournament, and the spirit and teamwork on display make it clear we’re in for a great season.
The B2H motto is “Have fun and enjoy the sport”; if this sounds like something you’d enjoy, now’s the perfect time to get involved. See you at training!
