Sirens 0 - 1 Old Cranleighan 7s (A)
By Tracey House
Our game on Saturday was a meeting of friends. Many of the OC players have been on the same hockey journey as the Sirens. Sirens started as The Casuals and was formed from B2H along with some very experienced Surbiton players. OCs were there to play friendlies and fun games, so a game against them is always looked forward to. Seeing Pam (Tarek’s mum) is another added joy, as well as an away match at Oaken Lane (almost a home game).
Fresh from our last match, Joanna and Emma have now fully joined the Sirens which is great, and we had the wonderful Caitlin in goal, doubling up to help us out.
The game was free flowing and attacking from both teams. Solid defence kept OCs from scoring up till the last eight minutes of the game. A frustrating 1-0 loss.
So many players worked hard, with lots of moving of positions throughout the game: Victoria W in defence and mid, Kate in defence and up front, Emma in defence and mid. Hayley was solid as a rock, Claire T had a stormer and Cleo ran and ran. She definitely deserved her POM win. Wally Wig of the Week (WWW) was Claire T.
